Dj Kost - 100% R&B V.1

Another piece of Mixtape History right there. The 1st of the Dj Kost series. I used to buy his mixtapes in my hometown of Brussels but when this series reached Brussels it was already number 15, and so I never tought I would be able to listen to this tape but thanks to Chris it's right there. Massive shout out to him for al his hard work and money he put into making lots of mixtapes available, and in good quality. In fact, most of the  MP3 versions of French mixtapes that you'll listen to are there thanks to him so respect for his work and dedication over the years.

Dj Goldfingers & Mario - 110% Hip-Hop V.2

 

 

 

96 was a good year for hip-hop. Another French tape this time by Dj Goldfingers and Mario. No idea who Mario was but Goldfingers was quite famous, not for his tapes, he only made 3 of them ( of which 2 feature on this blog) but more for the mixcd's and radioshows he made afterwards with Dj Kost and which had a huge commercial succes. This tape is his early work and it's a first class  mix with some blends and the usual songs from that era. Straight outa the crates of one of Belgium's biggest mixtape fiends Loyd. Massive big up to him!

 

Dj Stofkry - Complot des Bas-Fonds

Solid selection. Good mix. French producer who made a couple of nice mixtapes.

Dj Mosko - Hardcore Act 1

Straight from Paris, fresh tape by Mafia K1 Fry Dj Mosko. Major US sounds of the moment with a funky intro and outro. 96 is the year.

Dontchaflex - Volume 1

Dontchaflex a Belgian rapper who made quite a name for himself in France. He released several mixtapes with big names on it. This his is first, and possibly one of the first street tapes from Brussels. It features the infamous gang Kung Fu Clan.

Dj Spank - Underground Hip Hop

                          

This tape is by French producer Dj Spank known for his collaborations with Joey Starr, author of many movie soundtracks, creator of the BOSS label and currently employed by Bad Boy Entertainment. Clean tape with the major US sounds of the moment.

Dj Doggtime - $outh$ide

Classic blend tape in typical Doggtime fashion. Wether you like him or not, you can't front on this dj, he truly has his own style..one take..seamless mixes.

Cut Killer - R&B N° 4 - 1995

It's Esko again holdin it down for Tape diggers and this is one goes out to my cousins Sami & Shafiiq The Digga - Cut Killer R&B N°4 !

Now fellas this is my favourite mixtape, this is one of the rare tapes that never left my house since the 90s, i still remember buying it back in 95/96 when Michael Jordan was still playing with the Bulls and 2Pac & BIG were alive and still bringin new flava....

As usual Cut Killer prepared an original intro and continues on this r&b cruise with many classics as well as some rare tunes like Jameicia feat. Busta Rhymes or Baybe - Victim of Society, as well as a crazy blend of Fugees over Horace Brown a true pearl of  90s r&b mixing
